Workplace Violence Bill 168
What’s Bill 168?
Bill 168, effective since June 15 2010, is part of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and has been put in place to counter violence and harassment in the workplace.
Places many new requirements on the Employers of Ontario.
The main terms of compliance are as follows:
- Perform a Workplace Violence Risk Assessment
- Develop, implement and post a Workplace Violence Policy
- Develop, implement and post a Workplace Harassment Policy
- Establish a Workplace Violence and Harassment Coordinator
- Develop and implement Employee Training
- Establish Prevention measures to address identified Workplace Violence Risks
- Establish and implement Employee reporting procedures
- Establish and implement procedures to investigate incidents and complaints
- Develop and implement Emergency Procedures to deal with all types of possible incidents and occurrences
